William F. Burger, 82, a longtime resident of Port Monmouth, peacefully passed away Monday, August 15th, at his home. Bill was born and raised in New York, a son of the late Esther and Artie Burger. He moved to the Bayshore area as a youth and settled here to raise his family. Bill worked for at General Motors in Linden for 40 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Middletown Elks Lodge 2179 and enjoyed fishing and gardening, especially growing vegetables.
Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joan (McInnes) Burger and his children; three daughters, Joan (Kevin) Lovett of Port Monmouth; Helen Meehan of Maine; Barbara Bertha of Port Monmouth; and his son Kenneth (Virginia) Klinsky of Freehold. He also leaves behind his brother Richard (Linda) Burger of Middletown, a sister-in-law Wanda Burger, 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his brother Robert Burger, and his sister and brother-in-law Phyllis and Joe Kurdyla.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Wednesday from 7-9 pm at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. Funeral services and burial will be private for the family on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society .
