William T. Hetherington, Jr., 89, of Keyport,passed away Tuesday, August 30th. Bill was born in Jersey City, a son of the late Ruth and William T. Hetherington, Sr. He lived most of his life in the Bayshore area before retiring to Keyport 15 years ago. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Bill was a weapons commercial draft artist at Fort Monmouth for many years He was a member and usher at St. John's United Methodist Church in Keyport, and a former member of the Mater Dei Booster Club. Bill was an avid Yankees and Giants fan. He also enjoyed playing golf and cruise vacations with his wife.
Bill was predeceased by his first wife, Dolores in 1970. He survived by his wife Betty Hetherington and his two daughters, Susan Hetherington and Patricia (Dave) Farney and his son William III. Bill also leaves behind 4 grandchildren Mark, Brianne, Lauren and David; a great granddaughter, Cadence and many other extended family members.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Thursday morning from 10 - 11 am at St. John's Methodist Church prior to the 11 am service. Burial and committal will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Middletown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Church, 2000 Florence Ave Hazlet, NJ 07730.
